1. What LossEngine is

LossEngine is software for licensed public adjusting firms. It reads insurance policies, carrier estimates, and related claim documents, and surfaces findings — coverage limits, deductibles, exclusions, statutory deadlines, and variances between a carrier's estimate and the policy or an adjuster's own scope — with a citation to the page and passage each finding rests on.

LossEngine does not practice law, adjust claims, or provide a coverage opinion. Every finding is decision support for the licensed adjuster of record on a claim, who remains solely responsible for professional judgment, licensing compliance, and everything filed or represented to a carrier, regulator, or policyholder.

2. Accounts and firms

An account belongs to a firm, not an individual. The firm's owner is responsible for who they invite, what role each member holds, and for closing access when someone leaves the firm. You agree to provide accurate information when creating an account and to keep your credentials confidential.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Upload documents you do not have the right to upload, or claim data for a matter you are not authorized to work.
  • Use LossEngine to practice law or the unauthorized practice of insurance adjusting in a jurisdiction where you are not licensed.
  • Attempt to access another firm's data, bypass access controls, or interfere with the service's operation.
  • Use the service to generate content you represent as independently verified when it has not been reviewed by a licensed professional.

4. AI-generated findings

LossEngine uses a third-party large language model (currently Anthropic's Claude) to read uploaded documents and draft findings. These findings are generated by an automated system, are probabilistic rather than certain, and can be wrong or incomplete. A finding with no page citation is explicitly marked as uncited by the product itself. You are responsible for reviewing every finding before relying on it in a demand, negotiation, or filing.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of the documents, claim data, and client information you upload ("your content"). You grant LossEngine a limited license to process your content solely to provide the service to you — including sending it to the third-party AI processor described in the Privacy Policy for analysis. We do not sell your content and do not use it to train models for other customers.

6. Fees and billing

Paid plans are billed through Stripe on the cycle shown at signup. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. We may change pricing on notice; continued use after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance.

7. Termination

Either party may terminate at any time. On termination, you may export your firm's data for a reasonable period before it is deleted from active systems, subject to standard backup retention. We may suspend an account immediately for a material breach of Section 3.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

LossEngine is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim arose.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with an updated date above, and continued use of LossEngine after that date constitutes acceptance.
